McKenzie Prepress Services provides electronic prepress services for the printing industry. Emphasis is on preparing Macintosh-based Quark Xpress files for computer-to-plate printing. In-house devices include a Minolta CF-910 printer/copier and an Epson Stylus Photo 870 printer (for photo quality printing, mostly from Photoshop files). Flatbed scanning is done using the Microtek ArtixScan 1100 scanner.

McKenzie Prepress Services was founded in 1979, originally as Typesetting Specialists. The company started in those “cut and paste” days with a Compugraphic Corporation Compuwriter IV phototypesetting machine, and then progressed through the EditWriter 7500 and PowerView 10 work stations. In 1990, the company’s name was changed to M (McKenzie) Laser Imagesetting, reflecting the company’s entry into the desktop publishing era. In early 2003, the name evolved to McKenzie Prepress Services, mirroring the constantly-changing role the company plays in the printing process. Today the company is involved with prepress functions in the production of magazines and product packaging.
